A beautiful peaceful corner of Mexico’s Pacific “Emerald Coast”, named after the vibrant color of its waters and made famous by its soft, white sand beaches. And there is more to do beyond its beaches, Puerto Escondido is an ideal place for ocean adventures, from recreational fishing to scuba diving and surf.
From the main beach you can go out to fish for sailfish, mahi mahi, marlin and rooster fish. Those who enjoy scuba diving can dive in search of beautiful seascapes in the rocky and sandy bottoms and the fauna that inhabits them. While in the beaches Carrizalillo and Manzanillo one can do free diving in perfect conditions. And there is of course, Zicatela beach, which with waves up to 20 ft tall is considered one of the world’s best surf beaches. So much so that every year between August and November there is an international surf tournament in this beach, widely considered the 3rd best in the world for this sport.
In the city of Puerto Escondido you will find a variety of things to do; delight your palate in incredible seafood and other regional cuisine restaurants. Or visit the boardwalk where you will find souvenir and artisan shops, or, if you are visiting during the month of November, the Coastal Dance Festival, with is traditional dance and local cultural representations of the Emerald Coast.
